School District No. 22 (Vernon) is currently accepting applications for a Visual Language Interpreter. This position is 35 hours per week, 10 month position. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Grade 12 plus completion of a recognized Interpreter Training Program (2-3 years). Registered with an accredited National or Provincial ASL Interpreter body. A minimum of one (1) year of sign language interpreting experience. Education Assistant qualifications are an asset. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL). Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Knowledge of, and sensitivity to, Deaf culture and the specific learning needs of students with hearing loss.
