Summary: Personal Support Workers are governed under the “Unregulated Care Providers’ (UCP category as identified by the College of Nurses. The Personal Support Worker assists and supports the nursing process utilizing the knowledge, skills and abilities that they acquire during their PSW training. The PSW works under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN). Job Duties: · Assessment of clients including taking vital signs (if appropriately trained), height, weight, fluid intake and output· Observe and document any changes in a client’s physical or mental condition and report changes and concerns to the nurse and/or Manager· Provide essential daily care and emotional support to clients· Assist with meal preparation· Assist with medication reminders· Development of care plans in collaboration with the nurse· Provide client care including helping with providing personal hygiene· Provides for the safety and well being of the individual client· Assist wi...
