Summary This supervisory position is located at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, in the Visitor and Resource Protection Division. Responsibilities This position serves as the Deputy Chief Ranger for Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Rainbow Bridge National Monument. This position reports directly to and is supervised by the Chief Ranger of Glen Canyon NRA. As the Deputy Chief Ranger-South the incumbent assists in managing one of the largest, complex and diverse Visitor and Resource Protection programs in the National Park Service (NPS). With 1.25 million acres, Glen Canyon NRA includes the second largest manmade lake in the United States. The park contains 1,960 miles of shoreline, 98 canyons, 6 major developed areas with concession operations, 217 NPS buildings, 6 auto campgrounds (552 spaces), 4 lakeside primitive campground with 700+ sites, 1,828 boat slips/buoys, 407 rental houseboats, and 2,260 boats in dry storage.
