Job Description
Summary You will serve as a SHIP MECHANICAL AND PIPING SYSTEMS INSPECTOR LEADER in the Nonnuclear Inspections Branch (Code 133.1), Nonnuclear Inspection Division (Code 133), Quality Assurance Office (Code 130) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will perform mechanical piping and sound isolation inspections on nuclear submarines and nuclear /nonnuclear surface ships. You will perform arrival and pre-inspections of systems/components to determine existing conditions (deficiencies/discrepancies) prior to the start of an overhaul. You will perform surveillances and audits on multiple ships systems, components, and processes in accordance with non-nuclear inspection division surveillance plan. You will initiate work stoppage/deficiency from when further work would cover a defect or endanger personnel or equipment.
