Job Description
Purpose
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To supervise safe hoisting activities and shaft maintenance
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential.
- At least 5 years relevant shaft working experience
Competencies
- Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the functions and the operation of signalling arrangements and safety devices in a shaft
- Demonstrate an understanding of shaft signals
- Demonstrate knowledge of the importance of maintaining the shaft in good working order
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of blasting products and their usage in an underground hard rock environment
- Demonstrate knowledge of the importance of the safe movement of men, material and equipment in the bank and shaft area
