Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Engineer – Studies to join our Power Systems team with a focus on AI and advanced optimization techniques. This role is ideal for candidates with a PhD or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) inelectrical engineering, computer science, or a related field, and a strong background in power system analysis, modeling, and control. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with tools such as PSSE, DigSILENT, MATLAB, PSCAD, or RTDS, and a passion for applying machine learning, data-driven methods, and optimization algorithms to solve real-world grid challenges. This position involves working on global projects and may require up to 25% travel.
As a Senior Power System Studies Engineer, a typical day might include the following:
Developing and applying machine learning and deep learning models for grid forecasting, control, and predictive maintenance.
