Payments Team
The goal of the Payments team is to enable revenue generation for the entire Proton ecosystem. This comes in the form of introducing new payment methods for users and architecting our client libraries. The team has impact across all Proton products and is critical to the success of the business as a whole. Proton is an integral company; the Payments team continuously expands the possibilities for users to pay with various payment methods beyond just plain credit cards or PayPal.
Tech Stack and Tools
The Payments stack depends largely on external services such as payment providers, tax‑information providers, and currency‑conversion providers. Internally, backend code is based on PHP/Symfony, frontend on React, mobile on Kotlin (Android) and Swift (iOS), with growing shared code in Rust.
