Job Description
A Registered Nurse (RN) in the Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care in a critical and highly specialized area. The RN demonstrates a professional and caring approach to patients and families using the primary/team nursing model. The PACU RN comes with minimum 3 years of Acute Surgical Nursing experience, strong organizational and prioritization skills and functions autonomously in the PACU setting. Acts as the primary care provider for patients; uses technical skills and clinical judgement in the delivery of professional nursing care to highly acute adult and pediatric patients. The PACU RN participates in collaborative practice with other members of the multidisciplinary health care team. There are 9 surgical suites in the CRH OR performing general, orthopedic, plastics, EENT, gynecological, obstetrical, and urologic surgery.
