SCT are on the search for a Rail Shunter to join our rail operations team! The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of rolling stock, ensuring compliance with rail safety standards, operational procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.

Reporting to the Terminal Coordinator the position includes the following responsibilities: 

  • Ensuring safe & efficient shunting activities (yard shunting) of rollingstock
  • Ensuring train and rollingstock examination activities on the site are conducted in a safe and efficient manner
  • Using two-way radios, hand signals and verbal communication during rail movements.
  • Responding to and reporting emergency situations in accordance with company procedures.
  • Identifying, reporting and where appropriate, rectifying unsafe conditions.
