Job Description
-A Water Pump Operator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and controlling pumping equipment to ensure a safe, continuous, and pressurized water supply throughout the distribution system
1. Equipment Operation & MonitoringStart and Stop Operations: Activate and shut down pumps, motors, and valves based on demand schedules or system telemetry.Performance Tracking: Monitor gauges, meters, and computerized control systems (SCADA) to ensure correct water flow rates and system pressure.Water Regulation: Manage reservoir levels and adjust water distribution according to service rosters and daily demand variations.
2. Routine Maintenance & TroubleshootingPreventive Upkeep: Conduct regular inspections and routine servicing (lubrication, cleaning, minor adjustments) of pumps and related facilities.System Assessment: Identify abnormal sounds, leaks, vibrations, or drops in pressure and troubleshoot minor mechanical defects.Repair Coordination: Escalate sever...
