Summary The Syracuse VA Medical Center is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to work intermittently in the Orthopedics Department. Responsibilities VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Duties and Responsibilities: The Physician Assistant will work in the Orthopedic Section - Surgery Service, within the Surgery and Diagnostic Care Line at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Major duties include, but are not limited to: OR duties: Obtaining the patient's consent and updated history Physical and scrubbing in OR cases as first assist Perform suturing and wound closures Non OR duties: Perform physician assistant care management - gathering patient histories, and conducting physical examinations, clinical assessment, and care of out-patients per independent licensure Prescribe medications within defined licensure, order all appropriate diagnostic studies, order and timely follow-up on patient tests, consultations, and procedures Provide patients and families with education on...
