What the role is

We are looking for a committed individual to be part of the Blood Services Group (BSG), Patient Services Division. The appointee for this position will be a laboratory officer in the Red Cell Reference Laboratory, which provides patient‑centric laboratory services in the area of red cell immunohaematology. As a Laboratory Officer in Red Cell Reference Laboratory, you will be rostered to do shift work. The shifts are 12‑hours long with a combination of morning and night shifts, i.e. 8am to 8pm, and 8pm to 8am. You will also be required to work weekend and public holiday shifts as rostered.

Responsibilities:

• To perform all tests and processes in the assigned laboratory in BSG, within set standard operating procedures and guidelines, with the objective of ensuring an efficient blood programme, and the quality and safety of the national blood supply.
