- Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components
- Prepare specifications of custom‑made cabinets that maximize storage
- Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files
- Instruct apprentices
- Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made
- Trim joints and fit parts and sub‑assemblies together to form a complete unit and reinforce joints
