Job Description
Reporting to the Foreman, Fleet & Facilities Services the general duties of the Heavy Equipment Technician shall include but are not limited to planning, assigning and participating in the work related to troubleshooting, repairing, adjusting, overhauling and maintaining the City’s fleet of equipment.
Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
- Performing services on all types of City equipment, with the focus on the preventable maintenance, diagnostic work, and repair of large equipment such as graders, loaders and fire trucks as required.
- Receiving oral and written instructions on a daily basis, exercising independent judgement in modifying work procedures and communicating such changes to team members.
- Executing government inspections.
- Conducting emergency and unplanned breakdown repair, which may be a result of finding something broken during preventative maintenance.
