Purpose Of Role

Furnace Operator is accountable and responsible for the safe achievement of metallurgical targets in the section.  The incumbent will execute and control the physical operational work in the section.  The position often takes on manual labour duties in order to operate the section and maintain a clean and safe working environment. Efficient operation of the various sections and equipment in the Plant.

Role Context

• Optimise efficiency and recoveries to produce quality products that meet the required specifications.


• Liaise with Smelter Production Coordinator with regard to process variables changes in the section.


• Process control within defined recipe.


• Problem solving skills.


• Record and analyse production stoppages and equipment.


• Participate on root cause analysis process.
