Role Overview

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Emergency Communication Nurse promotes the Mission, Vision, and Values of Medavie Health Services West (MHSW) by providing safe and timely medical triage of lower‑acuity patients. As a member of the Medical Communications Coordination Center (MCCC) team, the nurse triages, manages, and supports caller access to health care services for non‑emergent, non‑life‑threatening situations, performs secondary telephone‑based medical triage of lower‑acuity 911 EMS calls, and assists patients in arranging appropriate care using evidence‑based decision‑support software, clinical guidelines, protocols, and other resources.
