Job Description
Instruct students in the nsyilxwcən language and cultural practices with the Okanagan Indian Band. Foster identity through engaging lessons and a supportive team environment.
The Language Teacher at the Okanagan Indian Band will oversee language instruction for elementary students (K5-G7) and school staff. This role emphasizes developing a comprehensive nsyilxwcən curriculum rooted in traditional practices to ensure students progress towards fluency. You will work closely with a dedicated team to create a nurturing learning atmosphere based on cultural values.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop nsyilxwcən language curriculum for K4 to G7
• Conduct small group and whole class instruction
• Coordinate cultural activities and field trips
• Create daily lesson plans with classroom teachers
• Manage student assessments and evaluations

• BC Teacher Certification or equivalent
