Job Description
The Buyer is responsible for executing the strategies created by a Purchasing Manager. This may include planning the purchasing and scheduling of materials, services, and supplies, but normally does not include sourcing or negotiation with vendors. This Buyer may be responsible for the process of purchasing equipment, materials, supplies and services through the centralized Purchasing Function. This incumbent will usually execute the work established by a Corporate Purchasing Manager. This Buyer may be responsible for the process of purchasing raw materials and supplies for a manufacturing function. This incumbent will usually execute the work established by the Divisional or manufacturing-focused Purchasing Manager. In some businesses, this position’s duties may overlap with responsibilities in the Materials Management area which schedules raw materials in a manufacturing setting.
