Role Overview
The machining programmer designs and optimizes NC programs to control machine tools in a machine shop.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize CNC programs for machine tools.
- Perform tool path optimization to improve cutting tool efficiency, accuracy, and life.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to meet tolerances and customer requirements.
- Select machining parameters: cutting speeds, feeds, depths of cut, and strategies appropriate for materials.
- Simulate and validate programs using simulation software to avoid collisions and ensure compliance.
- Provide technical support to machinists for installation and adjustment of production settings.
