Chief Engineer Main Responsibilities Management: Safe and efficient management of engine department personnel and technical resources. Safety: Compliance with safe working practices, enforcement of BSM's safe manning levels of the engine room, and the issue and enforcement of appropriate Permits to Work. Maintenance: Maintenance of technical installations and equipment, as well as the development and control of maintenance plans and dry docking preparations. Electrical Systems: Approval and supervision of work on electrical systems (special training and qualification is required for work on electrical systems over 1000 V). Bunkering: Preparation and performance of safe bunkering operations. Task Assignment: Assignment of tasks to engine department personnel and supervision in consultation with the Second Engineer.
