The Automotive Deal Coster (or Deal Clerk/Bookkeeper) is the backbone of a dealership’s accounting office. They are responsible for reviewing, calculating, and finalizing every vehicle's financial paperwork. They apply the final costs to new and used car deals, ensure legal compliance, and confirm the dealership's profit margins are accurate before the sale is officially booked. 

Their day-to-day responsibilities typically include:

  • Verifying Deal Jackets: Checking all paperwork for accuracy, including pricing, finance products, trade-in values, and customer signatures.
  • Calculating Costs: Applying the exact costs to a deal, such as the vehicle price, packs, aftermarket warranties, accessories, and taxes.
  • Gross Profit Analysis: Confirming the final profit (gross) booked on each vehicle matches dealership expectations.
